The Learning Edge Corp. is pleased to announce that it has received a pl@tform2005 grant to produce an independent website about hockey. Called NovICE: A Basic Guide to Hockey, the new site will leverage both The Learning Edge's track record as a veteran new media production studio, and its experience as collaborators for over a decade with the Hockey Hall of Fame.
pl@tform is a unique calling card interactive digital media program sponsored by the Ontario Media Development Corporation and the New Media Business Alliance. In its second year the program seeks to help emerging interactive media firms develop experience and traction in the highly competitive New Media industry. The program also offers participants the opportunity to have their content distributed via Canada's largest Internet portal through a special partnership with Sympatico / MSN.
"This year's competition was highly competitive and it was a struggle for the jury to come to a final decision" relates Ian Kelso, President of the New Media Business Alliance and administrator of the program. "The three teams that were chosen were excellent in their presentations both on paper and in person but I'm sure that if more funds were available we could have easily picked three more."
Teams were adjudicated based not only on the quality of their projects but also on their strategy for growing their company around the creation of their own proprietary interactive content.
The first round of judging was based on written proposals, and the jury then chose eight teams to pitch their projects and companies in person. The final decision was weighted on a combination of the results of these two processes.
The pl@tform2005 winners were:
The Learning Edge Corp. |
NovICE: A Basic Guide to Hockey an interactive and entertaining learning site about Canada's favorite game |
Snoek Media |
Global Kitchens a delicious multicultural journey into the personal stories of four chefs and the savoury delicacies they create |
The Wired Schoolhouse, Inc. |
The Wine Dating Game a revolutionary interactive game where you choose the "wine date" to match your mood and situation |
This year's pl@tform winners are tentatively scheduled to appear on the Sympatico/MSN portal site in September.
